At its video conference today, the PPP International Board first received the report from the PPP Austria organising committee on the status of preparations.
Irmgard Plank and Hermine Hofner reported that all planning was well advanced and on schedule. Nenad Bach informed about the plans regarding the production of video spots about the tournament days.
Finally, the board discussed the protests filed by some players against the division into classes. It was agreed to abandon the initially planned equal size of the three individual classes, as was already practised at the last World Championships in Pula. Thus, the boundaries between classes 1 and 2 on the one hand and classes 2 and 3 on the other were raised slightly in both the women’s and men’s singles, so that a few players can now compete in a lower class than originally planned. As a result, the three classes are now no longer filled with the same number of players, which may have an impact on the schedule.
At the same time, it was decided to stick with the planned exact three-division in doubles and mixed. The final division in doubles and mixed will be announced on Monday, 25.09.2023 after accreditation and the end of the partner market, when the final entries for doubles and mixed are known.
